How to use the GPA Calculator

  1. Choose a letter grade and enter credit hours for each course.
  2. Click "Add course" for more rows.
  3. Read your weighted GPA.

How it works

Each letter grade converts to grade points (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, and so on), gets multiplied by that course's credit hours, then the total is divided by total credit hours. For example, an A in a 4-credit course and a B in a 3-credit course gives (4×4 + 3×3) / 7 = 3.57 — courses with more credit hours count more toward the average.

Frequently asked questions

What scale is used?

A standard 4.0 scale (A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, and so on down to F = 0), which matches most U.S. institutions.
